Worcestershire Rapids Bounce Back from Early Trouble to Defeat Notts Outlaws

    Worcestershire Rapids 154 for 8 (Smith 51, Hose 36) beat Notts Outlaws 134 for 7 (Young 25, Taylor 2-23) by 20 runs*

Notts Outlaws suffered their third defeat in the North Group as Worcestershire Rapids repeated their 2023 Vitality Blast victory at Trent Bridge, securing their second win in three matches.

Opting to bat first, the Rapids found themselves in early trouble, slumping to 58 for 6. However, a crucial 82-run seventh-wicket stand between Adam Hose (36) and Nathan Smith (51 off 35 balls) helped the visitors recover and post a competitive total of 154 for 8. Kiwi left-armer *Ben Lister (2 for 20) and leg-spinner *Calvin Harrison (1 for 14) were the standout bowlers for the Outlaws.

“We knew we had to get a partnership going to put a respectable total on the board, and Adam and I were able to do that,” said Nathan Smith, the man of the match.

In response, the Outlaws never really gained momentum, with their top-order batters failing to fire. *Will Young top-scored with a modest 25, as the home side managed 134 for 7 in their 20 overs. Seamer *Tom Taylor was the pick of the Rapids’ bowlers, finishing with figures of 2 for 23.

The victory for the Rapids avenged their 2023 Vitality Blast defeat at the hands of the Outlaws and keeps them firmly in contention in the North Group, while the Outlaws are left licking their wounds after a third consecutive loss.
