West Indies Announce Squad for Bangladesh Tests, Holder Rested, Sinclair Returns

West Indies have announced their squad for the upcoming two-home Test series against Bangladesh, with some notable changes from the previous series.

All-rounder Jason Holder will miss the series as he continues his rehabilitation from a shoulder injury. Offspinner Kevin Sinclair, on the other hand, returns to the squad after recovering from an injury that kept him out of the last Test series against South Africa.

Right-arm quick Anderson Phillip also makes a comeback, having last played a Test in December 2022 in Australia. Phillip has been in good form, picking up a match haul of nine wickets for Lancashire in the county circuit and also claiming a few scalps for Trinidad & Tobago in the domestic 50-over competition.

“Experienced pacer Alzarri Joseph is also back in the fold, having been rested for the South Africa series due to his ‘considerable workload’.”

However, despite Joseph’s return, Joshua Da Silva will retain his role as vice-captain, a position he held in Joseph’s absence.

The spinning duo of Gudakesh Motie and the uncapped Bryan Charles have been left out, making way for the returning players. Motie failed to make a significant impact in the previous series against South Africa, picking up just three wickets in two matches.

The two-match Test series will commence on November 22 in Antigua, followed by the second Test in Jamaica on November 30. Prior to the Tests, Kraigg Brathwaite will lead a CWI Select XI in a two-day warm-up match against Bangladesh on November 17 and 18 at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua.

The 15-man West Indies squad for the Bangladesh Tests is as follows:

    • Kraigg Brathwaite (capt)
    • Joshua Da Silva (vice-capt)
    • Alick Athanaze
    • Keacy Carty
    • Justin Greaves
    • Kavem Hodge
    • Tevin Imlach
    • Alzarri Joseph
    • Shamar Joseph
    • Mikyle Louis
    • Anderson Phillip
    • Kemar Roach
    • Jayden Seales
    • Kevin Sinclair
    • Jomel Warrican
