West Indies Opt to Bowl First as Rutherford and McCoy Join the Squad

West Indies have won the toss and chosen to bowl first in the fourth T20I against England at the Chester le Street Cricket Ground. The hosts have brought in Sherfane Rutherford to replace the injured Romario Shepherd, while Obed McCoy has been brought in for Terrance Hinds.

England have already sealed the series, having won the first three matches, including the toss. The visitors have handed a T20I debut to 23-year-old fast bowler John Turner, who has two ODI caps to his name from earlier on this tour. Turner replaces Jofra Archer, whose workload continues to be carefully managed.

“We’ve been really good with everything we’ve done so far. Today poses a good challenge in setting a good total and defending it,” said England captain Jos Buttler.

West Indies captain Rovman Powell suggested his side are playing for pride. “It looks a pretty good surface, we know how important it is to bowl and get a good start. From a personal standpoint, players have to stand up and be counted. From a team standpoint, it’s better to lose a series 3-2 than 4-1 or 5-0.”

The match is set to start under clear, blue skies at the Daren Sammy Stadium, using the same pitch as Thursday’s game, which England won by three wickets.
