Uganda Selects Veteran Nsubuga for T20 World Cup Clash Against Papua New Guinea

Uganda captain Brian Masaba won the toss and elected to bowl first against Papua New Guinea (PNG) in their Group C match of the 2024 T20 World Cup in Guyana.

PNG made one change, bringing in pace bowler Norman Vanua to replace Kabua Morea. Uganda, on the other hand, made three changes to their lineup. They dropped Ronak Patel, Henry Ssenyondo, and Bilal Hassun, and brought in Kenneth Waiswa, Juma Miyagi, and the 43-year-old Frank Nsubuga, who is the oldest player in the tournament.

“The co-hosts West Indies faced a scare from PNG in their opening game, as they were pushed to score 40 runs in the final four overs. Roston Chase and Andre Russell ultimately guided West Indies to victory, but PNG put up a decent fight.”

However, Uganda did not have a promising start to their T20 World Cup debut, as they were crushed by Afghanistan by 125 runs. In the ICC T20I team rankings, PNG are placed 20th, while Uganda are two spots below.
