Trent Rockets Edge Past Birmingham Phoenix in Thrilling Hundred Encounter

In a must-win clash at Edgbaston, Trent Rockets narrowly defeated Birmingham Phoenix by three wickets to keep their Hundred campaign alive. The victory saw Rockets draw level on points with third-placed Northern Superchargers, setting up a tantalizing final group stage encounter against Oval Invincibles.

Opting to bat first, Phoenix struggled early on, losing their top three – Ellyse Perry, Fran Wilson, and Amy Jones – in quick succession. However, a 95-run stand between Sterre Kalis (47) and Richa Ghosh (41) helped the hosts post a competitive 112/6.

“In terms of the chase, we probably got ahead of it a bit earlier and gave ourselves a bit of relief towards the end, so the pressure didn’t build up too much,” said player-of-the-match Nat Sciver-Brunt, who picked up 2/16 with the ball.

100-ball cricket live enthusiasts were treated to a nail-biting chase, as Nat Sciver-Brunt and Ashleigh Gardner’s knocks kept Rockets in the hunt. Despite a flurry of late wickets, including a timely run-out from Ellyse Perry, Rockets managed to cross the line with just three balls to spare, thanks to the composed finishing of Katie George and Josie Groves.

With their Hundred campaign on the line, the Rockets will now turn their attention to their final group stage clash against the Oval Invincibles, where a victory will secure their place in the knockout stages.
