    June 24, 2024 – ESPNcricinfo

The squads for this year’s edition of The Hundred have been finalized with the announcement of 32 Wildcard selections across the men’s and women’s competitions. The picks, based on standout performances in the ongoing Vitality Blast and Charlotte Edwards Cup, ensure that all eight men’s and women’s teams now have complete rosters ahead of the tournament’s fourth installment, set to run from July 23 to August 18.

Among the notable inclusions, England and Sussex seamer Ollie Robinson has been snapped up by Trent Rockets, having previously featured for Manchester Originals and Northern Superchargers. Ravi Bopara will return to London Spirit after his successful stint with the team last year, while legspinner Mason Crane has been picked up by Welsh Fire, having moved from Hampshire to Glamorgan on loan this season. Nottinghamshire pacer Dillon Pennington, who has caught the eye of the England selectors, will feature for Northern Superchargers.

On the women’s side, Fran Wilson, an integral member of England’s 2017 World Cup-winning squad, will turn out for Birmingham Phoenix. Southern Brave have secured the services of Sophie Luff, while Danielle Gregory (Manchester Originals) and Abi Freeborn (London Spirit) are among the other high-profile signings.

“I’m really happy to have been drafted by Southern Brave,” Luff said. “The Hundred is a great competition to be a part of, so I’m really happy to have been picked up and it’s especially great to have been selected by Charlotte Edwards. I’m really looking forward to the competition and adding value where I can.”

In addition to the main squad announcements, six replacement players have also been revealed, including Tom Aspinwall and Scott Currie, who will step in for Fred Klaassen and Josh Tongue at Manchester Originals. Australian imports Charli Knott and Laura Harris will feature for Southern Brave and Oval Invincibles, respectively, as temporary replacements.

With the Wildcard selections complete, the stage is set for an exciting edition of The Hundred, which promises to showcase the talent and depth of both the men’s and women’s game. Cricket enthusiasts can look forward to an engaging and high-quality brand of club cricket, fantasy club cricket, backyard cricket, and beach cricket throughout the tournament.
