South Africa Gear Up for T20I Series Against India in Chennai
Allrounder Chloe Tryon makes her highly anticipated return to the South African women’s team for the upcoming three-match T20I series against India, set to take place in Chennai on July 5, 7, and 9. Tryon, who had been sidelined since April due to a back injury, has been included in the squad, bringing valuable experience to the team.
“She [Tryon] brings a lot of experience to the team, and we can’t wait to see her back on the field,” said SA women’s interim head coach Dillon du Preez. “We have our last three T20I matches against India, which will give us some time to look at one or two options before we go home and start our final preparation for the T20 World Cup in Bangladesh.”
The 100-ball cricket live action will see South Africa look to bounce back from their 3-0 ODI series loss to India in Bengaluru, as well as their struggles in the ongoing one-off Test in Chennai. Convenor of selectors Clinton du Preez emphasized the focus on “maintaining consistency” and “building on our strengths and cohesion” as the Proteas Women gear up for the T20 World Cup in Bangladesh.
“This approach allows us to refine our strategies and enhance team dynamics, which are crucial as we prepare for the T20 World Cup in Bangladesh,” du Preez said. “Our goal is to provide a platform for our players to gain valuable experience and showcase their skills, ensuring we are well-prepared for the challenges ahead. The return of Chloé Tryon is a significant addition, and we are confident that this squad will perform with the determination and excellence that defines Proteas Women cricket.”
