Rocky Flintoff Earns First England Under-19 Call-Up

Rocky Flintoff, the 16-year-old son of former England cricket great Andrew Flintoff, has earned his first call-up to the England Under-19 squad. The young all-rounder, who made a century for Lancashire’s 2nd XI in April, is part of a 16-man squad that will face Sri Lanka in a three-match one-day international series later this month.

The England Under-19 side is captained by Essex’s Luc Benkenstein, son of ex-South Africa international and current Lancashire head coach Dale Benkenstein. Other notable inclusions are Haydon Mustard, son of former England wicketkeeper Phil Mustard, and Farhan Ahmed, the brother of England leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed.

“Rocky Flintoff made his debut for Lancashire’s 2nd XI earlier this season, featuring alongside his older brother Corey shortly after his 16th birthday. The talented teenager then followed up his maiden half-century with a impressive 116-run knock against Warwickshire at Edgbaston.”

His father, Andrew Flintoff, played a pivotal role in England’s historic Ashes triumph in 2005 and represented the national team in 79 Tests, 141 one-day internationals and seven T20Is between 1999 and 2009. The former all-rounder is currently part of England’s coaching staff at the T20 World Cup and is set to take over as head coach of Northern Superchargers in The Hundred later this year.
