    Rishabh Pant, Ishant Sharma, and Young Talents Shine in Inaugural Delhi Premier League Draft

    The inaugural Delhi Premier League (DPL) held its player draft on Friday, showcasing an impressive lineup of talent from across Delhi, including players who have represented India’s senior and Under-19 teams, as well as the IPL.

    Rishabh Pant and Ishant Sharma were among the key picks, with Pant being drafted by Purani Dilli 6 and Ishant joining the same team. The North Delhi Strikers selected Harshit Rana, while Ayush Badoni was the first pick for the South Delhi Superstars. Central Delhi Kings also made notable selections, drafting former India Under-19 captain Yash Dhull and legspinner Prince Choudhary.

    “The draft featured a total of 270 players, with notable absences including fast bowler Mayank Yadav, who impressed in IPL 2024 but was ruled out due to injury.”

    In the women’s competition, Shweta Sehrawat and Priya Punia were among the first picks, with Sehrawat joining South Delhi Superstars and Punia being drafted by East Delhi Riders. The top four bidders for the men’s franchise auction also secured the teams for the women’s DPL.

    The inaugural DPL will be played from August 17 to September 8, 2024, with all matches taking place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. The men’s competition will consist of 33 games, while the women’s competition will feature 7 matches.
