London Spirit Soar into Eliminator Spot with Redmayne’s Crucial 66*
A blistering half-century from Georgia Redmayne propelled London Spirit to an 8-wicket victory over Manchester Originals in the 100-ball club cricket clash at Lord’s. The win solidifies the Spirit’s position in the last Eliminator spot of the competition.
Despite a shaky start, Redmayne found her groove to score an unbeaten 66 from 59 deliveries, guiding her team to the 113-run target with 8 balls to spare. The Australian was ably supported by England captain Heather Knight, who contributed a composed 29 off 27 balls.
Earlier, the Spirit bowlers had done an impressive job in restricting the Originals to a modest 112/7 in their allotted 100 balls. Charlie Dean and Sarah Glenn were the pick of the bowlers, sharing 5 wickets between them. The London outfit’s exceptional fielding also played a crucial role, with Glenn taking a brilliant caught and bowled, and Cordelia Griffith pouching a superb catch in the deep to dismiss Emma Lamb.
“It was a little bit of a tricky wicket, but we bowled really well to keep them to that total,” said Meerkat Match Hero Redmayne. “I didn’t start great, but it was nice to get some time in the middle in the end. As a team, we’ve been playing pretty good cricket, and this was an important win to solidify our position in the Eliminator spot.”
The result sees London Spirit maintain their impressive form in the 100-ball club cricket competition, with Redmayne’s match-winning knock proving crucial in their push for a spot in the knockouts.
