Naseem and Hamza Dismantle Bangladesh A as Pakistan A Take Control
Islamabad, August 13, 2024 – In the opening day’s play of the first four-day contest between Pakistan A and Bangladesh A, the home team’s fast bowling duo of Naseem Shah and Mir Hamza proved too hot to handle for the visitors, bowling them out for a paltry 122 runs.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Bangladesh A found themselves in early trouble as Naseem and Hamza ran through the top order. Opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy was the lone shining light, scoring a resilient 65, but the rest of the batting lineup crumbled around him on a pitch offering assistance to the fast bowlers.
“Naseem, returning to the red-ball format after an injury layoff, finished with impressive figures of 3 for 24 in 8.3 overs. His new-ball partner, left-arm pacer Hamza, also chipped in with 3 for 33 in 11 overs. The duo accounted for the wickets of captain Anamul Haque, Mominul Haque, and Rejaur Rahman Raja, while Hamza dismissed Zakir Hasan, Shahadat Hossain, and Nayeem Hasan.”
Bangladesh A were reeling at 53 for 3 before a brief partnership stabilized the innings. However, the fourth wicket fell at 91, and the visitors soon found themselves in a collapse, slipping to 110 for 9 before being bowled out for 122. Fast bowler Mohammad Rameez also played a supporting role, picking up 2 wickets.
With the pitch offering assistance to the bowlers, Pakistan A‘s batters could only face two overs before bad light forced an early end to the day’s play. They finished on 2 for no loss, with Saim Ayub and Muhammad Huraira at the crease.
The two teams will continue their four-day series, which is followed by a three-match one-day series. The senior teams of Pakistan and Bangladesh will also clash in a two-Test series, starting on August 21 in Rawalpindi.
