The absence of Wood was evident on the fourth day, as England struggled to break through the Sri Lankan batting lineup. Kamindu Mendis and Dinesh Chandimal, who scored a half-century, extended the visitors’ lead to 153 runs before rain interrupted play shortly before lunch.
