Cricket Enthusiasts Rejoice: Lauren Down Returns to White Ferns Squad for England Series

Batter Lauren Down, 29, has made a triumphant comeback to the New Zealand White Ferns squad after taking a break to welcome her first child. Down, who has represented the national team in 41 international matches, last played during the 2023 T20 World Cup.

Joining Down in the squad is all-rounder Mikaela Greig, who impressed during her T20 debut against England in March. However, fast bowler Rosemary Mair will miss out as she continues to recover from a back injury.

Under the captaincy of Sophie Devine, the White Ferns will face England in a packed schedule, including three one-day internationals starting on 26 June and five T20s commencing on 6 July. Experienced fast bowler Lea Tahuhu will join the squad for the T20 series after missing the ODIs due to the birth of her second child.

Earlier this year, England emerged victorious in both the T20 and ODI series against the White Ferns, winning the T20 series 4-1 and the ODIs 2-1. The upcoming matches promise an exciting clash as the New Zealanders look to bounce back and secure a home victory.
