Cricket Update: Kemar Roach Set to Return for West Indies’ Home Series Against South Africa

Veteran fast bowler Kemar Roach is poised to rejoin the West Indies Test squad for their upcoming home series against South Africa. Roach, who has been sidelined due to a knee injury sustained during the County Championship, is set to bolster the team’s bowling attack.

The West Indies selectors have also recalled all-rounder Jeremiah Louis and spinner Jomel Warrican, while wicketkeeper-batter Joshua Da Silva has been named the new vice-captain, replacing the rested Alzarri Joseph.

“Alzarri has had a considerable workload recently, and this break will allow him to recuperate and return to peak performance.”

Coley’s comments underscored the team’s long-term approach to player welfare, ensuring their key assets are well-rested and primed for top-level performances.

    Injury Updates and Squad Changes

    • Offspinner Kevin Sinclair, who suffered a fractured left forearm during the recent England tour, remains sidelined and is not included in the squad.
    • Zachary McCaskie, Kirk McKenzie, and Akeem Jordan have been omitted from the 15-member team.

The two-match Test series against South Africa will be played in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, from August 7 to 11, followed by the second Test in Providence, Guyana, from August 15 to 19. The West Indies will be looking to bounce back from their recent 3-0 defeat in England and improve their standing in the World Test Championship.
