Jersey Unveils 14-Man Squad for 2026 T20 World Cup Qualifying Tournament in Germany

Jersey, the top-seeded team, has finalized its 14-man squad for the upcoming 2026 T20 World Cup qualifying tournament in Germany. The team, led by captain Charles Perchard, will feature Asa Tribe from Glamorgan and Nick Greenwood from Wellington as new additions. Bowler Scott Simpson is set to make his tournament debut after impressing in the squad earlier this year, while teenage spin bowler Toby Britton has been named as one of the four travelling reserves.

    Embracing the Favorite’s Role

The island side has reached the final round of qualifying for the past four T20 World Cups and will be looking to secure their place in the 2026 edition. Jersey boss Paul Hutchison has acknowledged the team’s status as favorites for the upcoming tournament, urging them to “embrace this position.”

    Qualifying Tournament Details

Jersey will compete in Group B matches against Switzerland, Serbia, Belgium, and Croatia between July 5 and 15, as part of the European sub-regional qualifiers. To advance, they will need to finish top of their group and then defeat the winners of the other group, which features hosts Germany, Norway, Sweden, Gibraltar, and Slovenia.

“We’re the top-seeded team, and we need to embrace that responsibility and show everyone why we deserve that position,” said Hutchison.

Additionally, Italy, Ireland, and Scotland have already secured their spots in the World Cup European T20 Qualifier next summer, having advanced directly after their performances in this year’s T20 World Cup.
