    IPL Franchises Finalize Retained Players Ahead of 2025 Mega Auction

    As the October 31st deadline approaches, the ten IPL franchises have finalized the list of players they will retain for the upcoming 2025 season. This crucial decision-making process precedes the highly anticipated IPL mega auction, where teams will have the opportunity to revamp their rosters.

    Chennai Super Kings (CSK)

    CSK are set to retain a core group of five players, including the legendary MS Dhoni, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, Shivam Dube, and Sri Lankan fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana. While the exact financial details are yet to be confirmed, CSK will lose at least INR 65 crore from their overall purse of INR 120 crore.

    Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)

    Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the 2024 IPL champions, are poised to retain Sunil Narine, Rinku Singh, Harshit Rana, and Varun Chakravarthy. However, their captain Shreyas Iyer and star all-rounder Andre Russell are unlikely to be retained.

    Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)

    Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have decided to retain Nicholas Pooran, Mayank Yadav, Ravi Bishnoi, and the uncapped duo of Mohsin Khan and Ayush Badoni. Current captain KL Rahul is not expected to be retained by the franchise.

    Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)

    Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have made some notable retentions, with South African power-hitter Heinrich Klaasen set to be their top retained player at INR 23 crore (US$ 2.74 million approx.). The franchise will also retain Pat Cummins at INR 18 crore (US$ 2.14 million approx.) and India all-rounder Abhishek Sharma at INR 14 crore (US$ 1.67 million approx.). Travis Head and Nitish Kumar Reddy are the two other capped players set to be retained by SRH.
