Cricket Showdown: India Allrounder Confident Ahead of Series Finale

However, India allrounder Washington Sundar exudes confidence, asserting that the team is well-prepared to come out on top in all aspects of the game.

The recent outcomes, where India had previously handed Sri Lanka heavy defeats, have been surprising. But Sundar remains unfazed, stating that the Indian team is well-versed in handling spin-friendly pitches, both at home and in domestic cricket.
“We’re quality players of spin,” Sundar said ahead of the crucial third match. “A lot of our players have done really well, especially in the middle order, batting against spin.” He acknowledged the challenging nature of the wickets but expressed the team’s determination to find a way to get the job done.
With the upcoming Champions Trophy on the horizon, this series against Sri Lanka serves as valuable preparation for India. The possibility of their matches being moved to Sri Lanka or the UAE, where spin is expected to play a significant role, has added to the importance of their performance in this series.
Sundar addressed the team’s struggles in the previous matches, particularly in preventing Sri Lanka’s lower-middle order from building vital partnerships in the final overs. He emphasized the need to get the opposition out for 200 or less, a challenge the team is eager to overcome in the series finale.
On the batting front, India has tried to counter Sri Lanka’s unique spin attack by maintaining a left-right combination at the crease. However, the strategy has not fully paid off so far. Sundar revealed that coach Gautam Gambhir, known for his expertise against spin, has provided valuable inputs to the team as they seek to refine their approach.
