Rain Delays Crucial Third T20I as India Aim to Keep Series Alive

On a rainy day in Chennai, India elected to bowl first against South Africa in a bid to keep the T20I series alive. The visitors went in with the same XI that recorded their first win on tour on Friday.

India made a few changes to their lineup, with young wicketkeeper Uma Chetry earning her debut after Richa Ghosh was ruled out due to a “head injury” sustained while attempting a catch in the series opener. Arundhati Reddy replaced pace spearhead Renuka Singh, while Sajeevan Sajana, a standout finisher in the recent Women’s Premier League for Mumbai Indians, got the nod at No. 3 in place of the out-of-form D Hemalatha.

In the bowling department, India opted to replace legspinner Asha Sobhana with allrounder Shreyanka Patil, who will join their three-pronged spin attack.

South Africa, on the other hand, stuck with the winning combination from the previous game.

“The stage is set for an intriguing contest as India look to bounce back and keep the T20I series alive, while South Africa aim to extend their lead.”
