Rahul and Easwaran Set for Opener’s Tussle in India A’s Clash with Australia A

As India faces uncertainty around Rohit Sharma’s availability for the start of the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy, KL Rahul and Abhimanyu Easwaran are set to battle for the opener’s spot in the first Test against Australia. The duo will be on display during India A’s second unofficial Test against Australia A, commencing on Thursday in Melbourne.

Rahul, who has predominantly featured in the middle order for India in recent times, is likely to return to the top of the order, partnering Easwaran. Meanwhile, Dhruv Jurel is expected to take over the wicketkeeping duties from Ishan Kishan.

With Rohit’s participation in the early stages of the Australia tour uncertain due to personal reasons, the selection team will have a crucial decision to make in the opening combination. Easwaran, who has been called up as the designated third opener, has been in impressive form, scoring centuries in four of his last four first-class matches. His overall first-class record boasts 27 centuries in 100 matches, with an average of 49.40.

“Rahul, on the other hand, has proven his ability to excel as an opener in overseas conditions, having scored Test centuries in England, South Africa, and Australia. However, his overall record as an opener has been slightly less impressive, with 2,551 runs in 75 innings at an average of 34.94.”

The selection team will closely monitor the performances of Rahul and Easwaran in the club cricket, fantasy club cricket, chester le street cricket, chester le street cricket club, and chester le street cricket ground fixtures, as they look to finalize the opening combination for the crucial first Test in Perth.

Additionally, the team management will also be keeping a close eye on Dhruv Jurel’s displays with both the bat and behind the stumps. Jurel, who made his Test debut earlier this year, is seen as an exciting future prospect and could put pressure on Sarfaraz Khan for a spot in the middle order.
