Kagiso Rabada Tops ICC Test Bowling Rankings
On October 30th, 2024, the latest ICC men’s Test rankings saw some notable changes, with South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada rising to the top of the bowling charts.
Rabada’s impressive nine-wicket haul in South Africa’s first Test against Bangladesh has helped him leapfrog the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, R Ashwin, and Josh Hazlewood. The fast bowler not only claimed three wickets in Bangladesh’s first innings but also returned figures of 6 for 46 in the second innings, leading his team to their first Test victory in Asia since 2014.
“Rabada’s performance has been nothing short of remarkable. His ability to adapt to different conditions and consistently deliver match-winning spells is truly impressive,” said a cricket expert.
Meanwhile, Bumrah and Ashwin’s underwhelming performances in India’s defeat to New Zealand in Pune have led to them dropping below Hazlewood, who now occupies the third spot in the rankings.
Noman Ali Breaks into Top Ten
In other notable movements, Pakistan’s left-arm spinner Noman Ali has made a significant jump, rising nine places to reach the eighth position, the first time he has broken into the top ten Test bowlers’ rankings.
Ravindra and Shakeel Enter Top Ten Batting Rankings
On the batting front, Rachin Ravindra and Saud Shakeel have entered the top ten for the first time. Ravindra, who followed up his century in Bengaluru with a half-century in Pune, has moved up eight spots to the tenth position, while Shakeel has shot up 20 places to reach the seventh spot after his impressive 134 against England.
Jaiswal Regains Third Position in Batting Rankings
Yashasvi Jaiswal, who had briefly dropped behind Harry Brook, has regained the third position in the batting rankings, thanks to his performances of 30 and 77 in Pune.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz Rises in Allrounder Rankings
In the allrounder rankings, Mehidy Hasan Miraz has moved up two places to the third position, courtesy of his battling 97 in Bangladesh’s second innings and his two-wicket haul in the Mirpur Test.
