Australian Debutant Heather Graham’s Four-Wicket Haul Skittles Western Storm for 99 in Charlotte Edwards Cup Clash

In a dominant display, The Blaze comfortably defeated Western Storm by seven wickets in their Charlotte Edwards Cup encounter at the Uptonsteel County Ground in Leicester. Australian all-rounder Heather Graham, making her debut for The Blaze, starred with a sensational bowling performance, claiming 4 for 10 to dismantle the visiting side.

    Batting Woes for Western Storm

Opting to bat first, Western Storm’s innings never gained momentum as they were bundled out for a paltry 99. England captain Heather Knight top-scored with 20, but the rest of the Storm lineup struggled to make an impact against the disciplined Blaze bowling attack. Offspinner Lucy Higham (2 for 18) and left-arm seamer Grace Ballinger (1 for 17) also chipped in with vital wickets.

    The Blaze Cruise to Victory

In their chase, The Blaze lost a couple of early wickets, but the Scottish duo of Kathryn Bryce and Sarah Bryce steadied the ship with a solid 67-run partnership for the third wicket. Heather Graham then fittingly sealed the victory by hitting the winning boundary, capping off a memorable debut.

“Led by the inspirational Kirstie Gordon, The Blaze now have six wins from six matches in the expanded 2024 edition of the Charlotte Edwards Cup, cementing their position at the top of the points table. With this comprehensive win, the East Midlands side has firmly established themselves as the team to beat in the tournament, keeping them firmly on track for a return to finals day at Derby on 22 June.”
