Sri Lanka Choose to Bat First in Thrilling Second ODI Against India

On August 2nd, Sri Lanka chose to bat first in the second ODI against India at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Aiming to build on the dramatic tie in the series opener, the hosts made two changes to their lineup. Leg-spinner Jeffrey Vandersay replaced the injured Wanindu Hasaranga, while all-rounder Kamindu Mendis, who bowls spin, came in for fast bowler Mohamed Shiraz.

With just one frontline seamer in Asitha Fernando, Sri Lanka bolstered their spin options, expecting the pitch to provide increasing assistance for the slower bowlers as the match progressed. Captain Charith Asalanka, who picked up three wickets in the previous game, including two in two balls to seal the tie, will be an integral part of this spin-heavy attack.

Meanwhile, India retained the same XI that featured in the series opener, with skipper Rohit Sharma emphasizing the need for adaptability as they look to chase down another challenging target in Colombo.

“The 100-ball cricket schedule is set to keep the fans engaged, with the 100-ball cricket live action promising plenty of excitement. Enthusiasts can also look forward to backyard cricket, beach cricket, and club cricket fixtures in the coming weeks, providing a diverse range of cricketing experiences.”
