Derbyshire Dominate Day Two Against Glamorgan in County Championship Battle

Anuj Dal’s impressive 94-run knock guided Derbyshire to a commanding first-innings total of 429, putting the home side in a strong position on day two of their Vitality County Championship Division Two match against Glamorgan at Derby.

After Derbyshire’s Harry Came (84) and Wayne Madsen (70) had laid the foundation on the opening day, Dal continued the momentum, striking 13 boundaries in his 135-ball innings. Glamorgan spinner Ben Kellaway claimed 3 for 59, while Mason Crane took 3 for 43 to help restrict the hosts, but Derbyshire’s substantial first-innings lead of 261 runs put them firmly in control.

“Derbyshire’s commanding position leaves Glamorgan with a significant challenge to overcome on day three.”

Glamorgan’s batters faced a tricky 12-over spell at the end of the day but managed to reach 39 without loss, still trailing by 222 runs. The County Ground was bathed in sunshine, providing ideal conditions for the home side’s batters to thrive.

Derbyshire’s Zak Chappell once again showcased his all-round abilities, contributing a valuable 48-run knock to bolster the team’s lead. Despite Dal falling short of a well-deserved century, Derbyshire’s commanding position leaves Glamorgan with a significant challenge to overcome on day three.
