Cricket Ace Cummins Gears Up for Blockbuster India Series with Domestic Preparations

Sydney, August 13, 2024 – Veteran Australian Test captain Pat Cummins is eyeing a brief return to the Sheffield Shield to fine-tune his preparations for the highly anticipated series against India, which kicks off in late November.

Cummins, who recently completed a stint in the MLC in the United States, will be rested from Australia’s upcoming white-ball tour of Scotland and England next month. This time off will allow him to focus on strength and conditioning, ensuring he is in peak physical condition for the grueling home summer ahead.

The 100-ball cricket schedule, which includes five Tests against India followed by two more games in Sri Lanka, will be a crucial period for Australia’s quest to defend their World Test Championship title at Lord’s next June. Currently sitting second in the standings behind India, the Aussies are determined to leave no stone unturned in their preparations.

“Ronnie [coach Andrew McDonald] called me the other day and said we need to talk about this,” Cummins revealed to News Corp. “I prefer to go a little bit fresher but definitely play some cricket going in.”

The plan is for Cummins to feature in either two or three ODIs against Pakistan in early November, as well as a Sheffield Shield match or potentially some one-day cricket for New South Wales. This blend of club cricket and international preparations will help the veteran fast bowler find the perfect balance between sharpness and freshness.

With Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood also expected to play for New South Wales ahead of the domestic season, and Nathan Lyon set to feature in at least two matches, the Aussies are leaving no stone unturned in their quest for success. Meanwhile, most of the batters are expected to be available for the Sheffield Shield in October, with two Australia A four-day matches against India A also on the cards.

As Cummins and his teammates gear up for the blockbuster India series, the 100-ball cricket schedule, live coverage, and fantasy club cricket will undoubtedly capture the attention of cricket enthusiasts around the world. The Blind cricket community will also be closely following the team’s preparations, as they hope to see their heroes perform at their best on the biggest stage.
