Cricket Enthusiasts Eager for Border-Gavaskar Trophy as KL Rahul Shrugs Off Injury Concerns
Perth, November 17, 2024 – As the highly anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy approaches, the Indian cricket team received a timely boost with the return of KL Rahul to batting practice during their training session on Sunday at the WACA in Perth.
Rahul’s fitness status is a welcome development, especially with uncertainty surrounding the availability of Shubman Gill, who sustained a thumb injury during the team’s intra-squad match simulation. Gill’s position in the batting order remains unclear, with no confirmation yet on whether Rohit Sharma will join the squad in time for the first Test.
Rahul, who had earlier left the field early after being struck on the elbow by a rising delivery from Prasidh Krishna, spent nearly an hour batting on the ground and participated in a short net session. While he did not appear as fluid as before the injury, he showed no signs of discomfort, providing a positive outlook for the Indian team.
“The training session also saw the Indian team’s frontline bowling attack, led by vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah, being unleashed during the match simulation on the second day.”
The team has completed their initial block of training at the WACA and will now shift their focus to the Optus Stadium, where the first Test is scheduled to begin on November 22.
As the team continues their preparations, Cricket enthusiasts eagerly await the start of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, with the contest between the two cricketing giants promising to be a thrilling affair. With the return of KL Rahul to batting practice and the team’s continued training, India’s hopes of a strong performance in the series remain high.
