Bangladesh Bowler Tanzim Hasan Sakib Fined 15% of Match Fee for Breach of Code of Conduct
On June 16, Bangladesh fast bowler Tanzim Hasan Sakib was fined 15% of his match fee for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during a heated exchange with Nepal captain Rohit Paudel. The incident occurred just after the third over of Nepal’s innings in their match against Bangladesh in Kingstown.
According to the ICC release, Tanzim “walked towards Nepal batter Rohit Paudel in an aggressive manner and made inappropriate physical contact” following a delivery. The two players exchanged words and gestures, prompting on-field umpire Sam Nogajski to intervene and speak with Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto.
Tanzim was found to have violated Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which relates to “inappropriate physical contact with a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee or any other person (including a spectator) during an International Match”. He accepted the proposed sanction, and one demerit point was added to his disciplinary record.
“There’s nothing between us. Just he came and he told me to hit. And I said, go and bowl. Nothing else.”

Despite the altercation, Paudel downplayed the incident, saying, “There’s nothing between us. Just he came and he told me to hit. And I said, go and bowl. Nothing else.”
Tanzim’s impressive spell of 4 for 7 ultimately broke Nepal’s back as they fell short by 21 runs while chasing 106, which was the lowest total successfully defended at the ongoing 100-ball cricket live T20 World Cup. With nine wickets in four games and an economy rate of just 4.80, Tanzim is currently the joint second-highest wicket-taker in the tournament. Bangladesh have progressed to the Super Eight and will face Australia on June 21.
