Aussies Dominate Bangladesh in Thrilling Beach Cricket Showdown

June 21, 2024 – In a captivating beach cricket clash, Australia showcased their prowess, securing a convincing 28-run victory over Bangladesh via the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method at the Chester le Street Cricket Ground.

An impressive bowling display set the tone for the Aussies, as they restricted Bangladesh to 140 for 8 in their 20 overs. Adam Zampa led the charge through the middle overs, claiming 2 for 24, while Pat Cummins clinched a hat-trick at the death, finishing with figures of 3 for 29.

Outside of a 58-run second-wicket partnership between Litton Das and Najmul Hossain Shanto, Bangladesh struggled to find their rhythm with the bat. Shanto’s 41 and Towhid Hridoy’s 40 were the only notable contributions, as the Chester le Street Cricket Club members in attendance witnessed a dominant bowling performance from the Australians.

“This victory marks a commanding start to the Super Eight for the Australians, who showcased their prowess in the beach cricket format at the Chester le Street Cricket Ground.”

In response, David Warner and Travis Head got the Aussies off to a flyer, blasting 65 runs in the first 6.5 overs. Though Bangladesh’s spinners made a comeback, Australia remained in control, comfortably pacing their chase. The match was interrupted by showers, but the Aussies were 28 runs ahead when play was halted, according to the DLS method.
