Australia A Women Dominate India A With Parsons, Vlaeminck, and McGrath’s Heroics

In a thrilling match-up, Australia A Women delivered a comprehensive performance, comfortably defeating India A by seven wickets in their latest encounter.

Opting to bowl first, the Australian side put on an impressive display with the ball. Pacer Darcie Parsons and the returning Tayla Vlaeminck were the architects of India A’s downfall, sharing four wickets between them and restricting the opposition to a modest 120 for 8 in their 20 overs.

Vlaeminck, who had been benched in the previous game, made an instant impact on her return to the Australia A lineup. The 25-year-old speedster registered remarkable figures of 4-0-6-1, claiming the crucial wicket of opener Shubha Satheesh in the second over.

The Indian batters struggled to find their rhythm, with Priya Punia (11 off 18), Shweta Sehrawat (15 off 28), and Tanuja Kanwar (7 off 10) all falling cheaply. When Sajeevan Sajana was dismissed by Parsons in the 13th over, India A found themselves in a precarious position at 47 for 5.

“It was a great team performance from the Australia A Women today. Our bowlers set the tone early on, and the batting unit backed them up with a clinical run chase.”

However, a gritty 57-run partnership between Kiran Navgire (38 off 20) and captain Minnu Mani (22 off 23) helped India A reach a respectable total, ensuring they batted out the full 20 overs.

In the chase, Australia A got off to a strong start, with opener Rachel Wilson (39) and the in-form Grace McGrath (51* off 31) leading the way. Wilson’s early boundaries set the tone, while McGrath’s aggressive innings ensured the hosts maintained control throughout the run chase.

Despite the dismissals of Katie Mack and Charli Knott, McGrath’s unbeaten, boundary-studded knock of 51 guided Australia A to a comfortable seven-wicket victory, with 13 balls to spare. The knock was a follow-up to her unbeaten 47 in the previous game, showcasing her impressive form.
