New Delhi, Anuj Rawat and Sujal Singh Rewrote Cricket’s Record Books with Astonishing 241-Run Opening Partnership in the Delhi Premier League

In a remarkable display of batting prowess, Anuj Rawat and Sujal Singh scripted history in the Delhi Premier League, registering the second-highest opening partnership in a T20 cricket match. The duo’s awe-inspiring 241-run stand for East Delhi against Purani Dilli 6 has cemented their place in the record books.

    Rawat and Sujal’s Scintillating Performance

Rawat, who has represented the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL, and Sujal were in scintillating form, making light work of the opposition bowlers. Rawat’s blistering 121 off just 66 balls, laced with 11 sixes and 6 fours, was perfectly complemented by Sujal’s equally impressive 108 from 57 deliveries, including 9 sixes and 7 boundaries.

A New Record in the Books

The previous record for the highest T20 opening partnership was held by Japan’s Lachlan Yamamoto-Lake and Kendel Kadowaki-Fleming, who put on an unbeaten 258-run stand against China earlier this year.

“We are really happy because in the beginning, we did not think we both would get our respective centuries, but as the game progressed and the shots started to flow, it became possible,” Anuj Rawat told reporters at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Sujal emphasized the importance of communication in their record-breaking partnership. “We made each other comfortable with the communication, which was simple. When I was struggling, Anuj was taking the initiative, and this communication worked wonders for us,” he said.

    Future Aspirations

Despite his stellar performance, Sujal is not preoccupied with the upcoming IPL auction. “My plan is just to play the same kind of knock I played. My job starts with batting on the wicket and ends there, and aside from that, I am not thinking much about it,” he said.

Rawat, on the other hand, is focused on his current role with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, following Dinesh Karthik’s retirement. “It’s only the performance that is in our hands, buying or retaining a player in the auction is something that is up to the franchises. But if we focus more on our job to score runs, then the rest will take care of itself,” he said.

This remarkable display of batting prowess by Anuj Rawat and Sujal Singh has undoubtedly left an indelible mark on the cricketing landscape, showcasing the boundless talent and potential in the game of 100-ball cricket, backyard cricket, beach cricket, and club cricket.
