Haryana Fast Bowler Anshul Kamboj Becomes Sixth Indian to Claim All Ten Wickets in a Ranji Trophy Innings
Anshul Kamboj, a fast bowler from Haryana, has achieved a remarkable feat by becoming only the third cricketer in the history of the Ranji Trophy to pick up all ten wickets in a single innings. This remarkable performance came on Thursday, the third day of the fifth-round matches in the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy season, at the Chaudhary Bansi Lal Stadium in Lahli.
Kamboj, who began the day needing two more wickets to complete the feat, finished with impressive figures of 30.1-9-49-10. These are the best bowling figures by a Haryana bowler in Ranji Trophy history, surpassing Joginder Sharma’s previous best of 8 for 24 against Vidarbha in 2004-05.
“Kamboj’s remarkable performance makes him only the sixth Indian cricketer to take all ten wickets in a first-class innings.”
The other players who have achieved this feat in the Ranji Trophy are Bengal’s Premangsu Chatterjee (1956-57) and Rajasthan’s Pradeep Sunderam (1985-86). In international cricket, the prestigious list includes the legendary leg-spin duo of Subhash Gupte and Anil Kumble, as well as seamer Debasis Mohanty.
Kamboj’s Journey and Impressive Year
Hailing from the boxing heartland of Karnal in Haryana, Kamboj initially started playing cricket on open fields before taking the sport more seriously at the age of 14. In a short span of less than a decade, he has not only made it to the Haryana state team but has also secured an IPL contract with Mumbai Indians, where he featured in three games in 2024.
This remarkable 10-wicket haul is the latest achievement in Kamboj’s impressive year, which began with him being the third-highest wicket-taker in Haryana’s maiden Vijay Hazare Trophy triumph. He then followed it up with an impressive 8-for against India B in the Duleep Trophy and a match-winning performance for the India Emerging squad at the T20 Asia Cup last month.
Kamboj’s timely performance will undoubtedly put him on the radar of IPL franchises ahead of the upcoming mega auction, as the young fast bowler continues to cement his place as one of the rising stars of Indian domestic cricket.
