Rocky Flintoff Earns Maiden England U19 Call-Up

Rocky Flintoff, the 16-year-old son of 2005 Ashes hero Andrew Flintoff, has received his first England call-up. The young all-rounder, currently juggling his GCSE studies, has been named in the 16-strong England Under-19 squad to face Sri Lanka in a three-match one-day international series.

In April, Flintoff junior struck his maiden century for Lancashire’s second XI against Warwickshire, just two weeks after his 16th birthday. His elder brother Corey, who is recovering from a stress fracture, has been outshone by his sibling’s impressive performances.

“It’s a great opportunity for the players to perform in an England Under-19 shirt and to experience international cricket.”

Former England captain and TV personality Andrew Flintoff is currently part of the backroom staff for the ongoing Twenty20 World Cup. Now, his son Rocky has earned the opportunity to represent the national youth team in their upcoming clashes with Sri Lanka.

    Squad and Series Details

Luc Benkenstein, the son of Lancashire coach Dale Benkenstein, will captain the England U19 side for the series, which runs from June 28 to July 3, beginning with a day-night fixture at Chelmsford.

Alongside Rocky Flintoff, the squad also features Haydon Mustard, whose father Phil played alongside Andrew Flintoff, and Farhan Ahmed, the younger brother of Test player Rehan Ahmed.
