Antigua and Barbuda Falcons Unveil Initial 12-Player Squad Ahead of CPL Draft

The newly formed Antigua and Barbuda Falcons have announced their initial 12-player squad for the upcoming 2024 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) season. The franchise, which replaces the Jamaica Tallawahs, has signed a mix of experienced international stars and emerging local talent to build their roster.

Among the big-name acquisitions are Pakistani all-rounder Imad Wasim, Pakistani opener Fakhar Zaman, West Indian batter Brandon King, and West Indian all-rounders Fabian Allen and Shamar Springer. The squad also includes rising stars like 17-year-old local batter Jewel Andrew, who has also been included in the Falcons’ books.

“We’re excited to have assembled a strong squad that blends experienced international talent with promising local players,” said the Falcons’ general manager. “This well-rounded team will be a force to be reckoned with in the upcoming CPL season.”

With 12 players already signed, the Falcons will need to add five more during the player draft in July to finalize their 17-player roster. Other notable CPL 2024 signings so far include Tim David and Jason Roy (Trinbago Knight Riders), Heinrich Klaasen (St Lucia Kings), and Wanindu Hasaranga and Tristan Stubbs (St Kitts and Nevis Patriots).

    2024 CPL Schedule

The 2024 edition of the CPL will be held from August 28 to October 6, with matches taking place in Antigua for the first time in ten years. The tournament will also feature games in Barbados, Guyana, St Kitts & Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Trinidad & Tobago, with the final to be played at the National Stadium in Providence, Guyana.
