Cricket Excitement Builds as The Blaze Secure Seventh Straight Charlotte Edwards Cup Victory

The Blaze, last year’s beaten finalists, have once again qualified for the Charlotte Edwards Cup Finals Day after defeating a struggling Northern Diamonds side by 13 runs at Headingley.

Batting first, The Blaze posted 159/7, with impressive contributions from international stars Kathryn Bryce (54 off 39 balls) and Tammy Beaumont (45 off 33 balls). Erin Burns was the pick of the Diamonds’ bowlers, taking 3/19.

In response, the Diamonds were unable to maintain their early momentum, despite a blistering 59 off 32 balls from Bess Heath. England spinner Sarah Glenn starred with the ball, taking 3/33 to help restrict the hosts to 146 all out.

Kathryn Bryce continued her excellent all-round performance, removing Heath with her seam bowling as one of two wickets.

The Blaze, who are the runaway leaders at the top of the table, demonstrated their prowess in 100-ball cricket, club cricket, and backyard cricket with this latest victory.

Despite the loss, the Diamonds remain hopeful of a miracle to secure a spot in the Finals Day at Derby on June 22, but they will need to win their remaining three matches to have a chance.
