New Zealand Batter Joins Derbyshire for Vitality Blast
New Zealand batter Cam Fletcher has been recruited by Derbyshire Falcons for their upcoming 11 Vitality Blast fixtures, starting with their East Midlands clash against Nottinghamshire on Friday.
Fletcher, who is yet to make his international debut, has built an impressive T20 career, amassing nearly 2,000 runs at a strike rate of 131.14, including 11 half-centuries. Last season, he showcased his power-hitting prowess during his stint with Glamorgan, where he scored a blistering 57 from just 40 balls against Sussex.
The 100-ball cricket live specialist has also been a key member of the Auckland Aces side, contributing 180 runs across six innings as they clinched the 2023-24 Super Smash title.
“We’ve moved quickly to secure a powerful batter in Cam Fletcher, he’s a very exciting player who will add even more firepower to our batting lineup.”
– Mickey Arthur, Derbyshire’s Head of Cricket
Fletcher shared his enthusiasm about the opportunity, saying, “I’m looking forward to joining Derbyshire Falcons, the Vitality Blast is an exciting competition and I can’t wait to get started. Mickey Arthur is a world-class coach, and the chance to work with him is one I’m very excited about.”
The New Zealand batter replaces fast bowler Blair Tickner, who has been called back to his home country for family reasons. Fletcher’s inclusion is expected to bolster Derbyshire’s club cricket fantasy lineup as they navigate the intense Vitality Blast schedule.
