Bangladesh Women’s Squad Announced for ODI Series Against Ireland

The Bangladesh Cricket Board has announced the squad for the upcoming ODI series against Ireland, set to take place in Dhaka from November 27 to December 2. The squad features two notable additions, with Taj Nehar and Sanjida Akter earning their maiden call-ups to the ODI side.

    Notable Inclusions and Exclusions

“All-rounder Sharmin Akhter, who had missed the T20 World Cup earlier this year, has been recalled to the squad. Sharmin last played international cricket during the ODI series against India at home in July 2023. The 28-year-old has represented Bangladesh in 35 ODIs and 16 T20Is since making her debut in 2011.”

Veteran pacer Jahanara Alam, who has played at least 50 women’s ODIs for Bangladesh, has also been included in the squad.

Middle-order batter Taj Nehar made her international debut in the Women’s T20 World Cup in October, while left-arm spinner Sanjida Akter has played 18 WT20Is for the national team.

The selectors have excluded Farzana Akter, Sumaiya Akter, Disha Biswas, and Nishita Akter from the previous squad.

    Head-to-Head and Upcoming Fixtures

Bangladesh have a winning record against Ireland in ODIs, having won three out of six matches. They won the last bilateral series between the two sides in 2016.

The three-match ODI series will be followed by a three-match T20I series in Sylhet from December 5 to 9.
