Zimbabwe Selects Experienced and Promising Players for Pakistan Series

Zimbabwe’s national cricket team has announced their squads for the upcoming white-ball series against Pakistan. The selectors have made some interesting choices, both in terms of experienced veterans and rising young talents.

    ODI Squad

The ODI squad features the return of seasoned players like Sean Williams and Craig Ervine, who provide stability and leadership.

    T20I Squad

The T20I team sees the exclusion of these senior pros, with the selectors opting to retain the squad that performed impressively in the recent T20 World Cup sub-regional qualifier in Kenya.

Uncapped fast bowler Tinotenda Maposa, 21, has been included in both the ODI and T20I squads, reflecting the selectors’ faith in his potential. Maposa has shown promising form in the domestic circuit, and the national team will be keen to see him translate his skills at the international level.

“The series against Pakistan is an important platform for Zimbabwe, and we believe the ODI squad we have selected is well-rounded,” said David Mutendera, Zimbabwe’s convener of selectors. “The presence of seasoned players like Craig [Ervine], Sikandar [Raza] and Sean [Williams] provides stability, while young players like Clive Madande, Brian Bennett, Dion Myers and the uncapped trio bring energy and the potential for game-changing moments.”

The selectors have emphasized the need to maintain continuity in the T20I setup, recognizing the importance of building on the team’s recent success. The Zimbabwe squad that won the T20 World Cup qualifier in Kenya has been kept intact, a testament to the selectors’ belief in their ability to deliver strong performances.

The white-ball series against Pakistan will commence on November 24 and will be played entirely in Bulawayo, featuring three ODIs and three T20Is.
