Amite Hasan Sets New Record, Ebadot Hossain Makes Comeback After 16-Month Absence, and Farhad Hossain Bids Farewell After 161 First-Class Matches

In a weekend filled with remarkable performances, Sylhet Division’s Amite Hasan etched his name in the record books with a stunning double-century, while Ebadot Hossain returned to competitive cricket after a lengthy rehabilitation period. Elsewhere, veteran all-rounder Farhad Hossain bid adieu to his illustrious 161-match first-class career.

Amite’s marathon innings of 455 balls, which included 18 fours and a six, is now the third-longest individual innings in first-class cricket in Bangladesh, according to ESPNcricinfo’s records. His 251-run fourth-wicket partnership with Asadulla Al Galib, who also registered his maiden century, was a highlight of the match against Khulna Division. The end of the partnership, marked by Galib’s comical dismissal, added to the entertainment value.

Khulna Division responded with 273 runs in their first innings, led by half-centuries from captain Anamul Haque and Afif Hossain. In their follow-up innings, the veteran Mohammad Mithun struck his 16th century, while Anamul, Imrul Kayes, and Nurul Hasan also contributed valuable fifties to secure a draw. Notably, this match marked the return of Ebadot Hossain to competitive cricket, as the fast bowler made his comeback after a 16-month layoff due to injury.

In another notable performance, 19-year-old Ashraful Hasan Rohan of Chattogram Division took a match-defining ten-wicket haul to secure an 8-wicket victory over Barishal Division. Shahadat Hossain’s century and Yasir Ali’s near-hundred helped Chattogram’s response, setting the stage for Ashraful’s heroics.

Elsewhere, defending champions Dhaka Division managed to salvage a draw against Dhaka Metropolis, thanks to the late-order resistance of Ripon Mondol and Nazmul Islam. Anamul Haque’s all-round performance, including a ten-wicket haul, was a key factor in the draw.

Finally, the match between Rangpur and Rajshahi marked the retirement of veteran all-rounder Farhad Hossain, who concluded his illustrious 161-match first-class career.
