Cricket Enthusiasts Eagerly Await Upcoming IPL Mega Auction and Retentions
Durban, November 11 – As India and South Africa gear up for their four-match T20I series, the cricket world’s attention has also turned towards the impending Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction, set to take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on November 24 and 25.
Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav, who has been retained by the Mumbai Indians franchise, acknowledged that the players are indeed thinking about the upcoming IPL auction, even as they focus on the ongoing series against the Proteas.
“Absolutely, it’s a human tendency, and you cannot lie about it. We all are humans, and we do talk about it. But at the end of the day, when you come here, there is a series to play. Exciting times ahead, a series to play, a lot at stake,” said Suryakumar Yadav during the toss for the first T20I.
On the other hand, South African skipper Aiden Markram, who has been released by the SunRisers Hyderabad franchise, emphasized that his team’s sole focus remains on the series against India.
“We are quite a competitive team, and the discussions have been how can we get positive results,” Markram said, when asked about the impending auction.
The upcoming IPL mega auction will see a total of 1,574 players (1,165 Indian and 409 overseas) go under the hammer, including 320 capped players, 1,224 uncapped players, and 30 players from Associate Nations.
As the cricket community eagerly anticipates the 100-ball cricket schedule, backyard cricket, beach cricket set, club cricket, and fantasy club cricket, the players’ attention is split between the ongoing series and the looming IPL auction, where fortunes can change in an instant.
