Cricket Enthusiasts Stunned as Australia A’s Neser Dominates India A’s Batting
Melbourne, November 7, 2024 – In a display of exceptional seam bowling, Australia A’s Michael Neser tore through the India A batting lineup on the opening morning of their four-day clash at the MCG. Neser’s 4 for 16, including a double-wicket maiden in the first over, left India A struggling at 65 for 5 by lunch.
Winning the toss, India A opted to bat first on a lively, green-tinged pitch. However, their decision backfired as Neser and fellow Test back-up Scott Boland exploited the conditions to devastating effect.
Neser’s brilliance started in the very first over, dismissing India Test hopeful Abhimanyu Easwaran and Sai Sudharsan in quick succession. Both batters were squared up by the movement and bounce generated by the seamer, with Easwaran’s edge being snapped up in the gully, and Sudharsan caught at second slip.
“The struggles continued for India A as KL Rahul, looking to cement his place as a Test opener, was undone by Boland’s angled delivery that seamed away to find the edge, sending him on his way for just 4.”
Neser then bowled a peach to remove Ruturaj Gaikwad, the ball angling in before seaming away late to take the outside edge, leaving India A reeling at 11 for 4 after just 2.4 overs.
Devdutt Padikkal and Dhruv Jurel attempted to steady the ship, but Neser returned before lunch to strike again, with a delivery that cramped Padikkal for room and resulted in an edge to the gully.
The impressive performance from Neser, backed by Boland, has dealt a blow to the hopes of several India A candidates, including KL Rahul, who were hoping to impress the selectors ahead of the upcoming Test series.
