Established Allrounder Retains Squads for Both ODI and T20I Series

Colombo, November 7th – Chamindu Wickramasinghe, a versatile all-rounder, has maintained his position in Sri Lanka’s national squads for the upcoming One-Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) series. The announcement comes as the island nation prepares to host the West Indies for a multi-format tour.

While Kusal Perera’s recent heroics in a T20I against the West Indies have earned him a spot in the T20I squad, Kusal Mendis, Pathum Nissanka, and Charith Asalanka – the core of Sri Lanka’s batting unit – will continue to feature prominently in both formats.

The spin bowling contingent remains largely unchanged, with Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana retaining their places alongside Jeffrey Vandersay and Dunith Wellalage in both the ODI and T20I squads.

On the seam-bowling front, Asitha Fernando has been selected for both formats, while Matheesha Pathirana, Nuwan Thushara, and Binura Fernando will feature exclusively in the T20I squad. Dilshan Madushanka and the experienced Mohamed Shiraz, who has excelled in domestic cricket, will be the primary ODI pace options.

“The series will commence on November 9th, with four matches – three T20Is and one ODI – to be played in Dambulla, followed by the remaining two ODIs in Pallekele.”
