Cricket Enthusiasts Eagerly Await Sri Lanka’s First Men’s T10 Tournament
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is set to host its first-ever men’s T10 competition from December 12 to 22, marking a significant addition to the island nation’s cricketing calendar. This highly anticipated tournament comes on the heels of the successful Lanka Premier League, Sri Lanka’s top T20 competition.
The upcoming T10 tournament will feature six franchises, one more than the Lanka Premier League, with a draft scheduled to take place on November 10. Overseas players are expected to participate in the event, further enhancing the excitement for cricket enthusiasts.
“The first-ever draft of the Lanka T10 Super League is going to set the platform for an exciting and entertaining tournament, which will add color to the Sri Lankan cricketing calendar and bring in a new experience to our players and fans, alike.” – SLC president Shammi Silva
The tournament is slated for an 11-day window between the end of the second Test in South Africa and the start of a white-ball series in New Zealand in late December. This timing ensures that most, if not all, of Sri Lanka’s top men’s players will be available to participate in the T10 competition.
The involvement of T Ten Global Sports, which also runs ventures in Zimbabwe and the West Indies, adds an international dimension to the tournament. The draft’s later rounds will involve selecting an emerging player from either of those nations, further diversifying the talent pool.
Cricket enthusiasts eagerly await the inaugural edition of the Lanka T10 Super League, which promises to deliver an exciting and entertaining experience for both players and fans alike. As Sri Lanka continues to expand its cricketing offerings, this new T10 tournament is set to captivate audiences and contribute to the growth of the sport in the country.
