Northern Diamonds Seal Comfortable Win Over Lancashire Thunder

Northern Diamonds continued their impressive form in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, defeating Lancashire Thunder by 86 runs to go top of the table. Sterre Kalis’ maiden List A century and Phoebe Turner’s six-wicket haul proved pivotal in the Diamonds’ dominant display.

Batting first, the Diamonds posted a formidable 290/6, thanks to a solid opening stand of 95 between Lauren Winfield-Hill and Emma Marlow, followed by a century partnership between Kalis and Beth Langston. Kalis’ fluent 100 off 94 balls, along with Langston’s blistering 58, propelled the Diamonds to a challenging total.

In response, Lancashire Thunder struggled to keep pace with the required run rate. Despite a century stand between Eve Jones (57) and Seren Smale (48), the visitors’ bowlers, led by the impressive Turner (6/20), dismantled the Thunder’s middle and lower order to bowl them out for 204.

“The victory puts the Diamonds in a strong position to secure a semi-final berth, with 37 points, 14 ahead of fifth-placed The Blaze, who have three matches remaining. For Lancashire Thunder, the defeat leaves them facing an uphill battle to make the knockout stages.”

The Diamonds’ all-round performance, highlighted by Kalis’ century and Turner’s six-wicket haul, showcased their depth and determination to maintain their position at the top of the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy standings.
