Cricket News: Shoriful Islam Ruled Out of Second Test Against Pakistan Due to Groin Injury

Bangladesh fast bowler Shoriful Islam has been ruled out of the second Test against Pakistan in Rawalpindi due to a groin injury. The young pacer, who impressed with his three-wicket haul and valuable lower-order runs in the opening match, is now in a race against time to be fit for the upcoming two-Test series in India next month.

According to the Bangladesh team physiotherapist Bayjedul Islam Khan, Shoriful complained of discomfort in the groin area after the first Test, and subsequent scans confirmed a Grade 1 left adductor strain. “Recovery usually takes around 10 days in such cases, and he has already started his rehabilitation process,” Bayjedul stated.

The Bangladesh cricket team faces a busy schedule in the coming months, with a tour of India comprising two Tests and three T20Is scheduled from September 19 to October 12. Following that, they have two home Tests against South Africa in October, before embarking on a full tour of the West Indies in November and December.

Shoriful Islam, who has featured in 11 Tests for Bangladesh since his debut three years ago, has unfortunately missed 11 more matches due to various injuries. The team management will be hoping for his speedy recovery to have him available for the challenging series in India and beyond.
