St Lucia Kings Bolster Lineup with New Zealand Wicketkeeper-Batter Tim Seifert
In a strategic move, the St Lucia Kings have signed up New Zealand’s Tim Seifert as a replacement for South African batsman Heinrich Klaasen ahead of the upcoming 2024 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) season.
The Kings, who finished third on the points table last season and reached the Eliminator, have brought in the experienced Seifert to strengthen their batting lineup. The 29-year-old wicketkeeper-batter has previously played for the Trinbago Knight Riders and was part of their title-winning squad in 2020.
Klaasen, who was with the Guyana Amazon Warriors in 2022, has since emerged as a formidable limited-overs cricketer. Over the past two years, the South African has amassed an impressive 2,293 runs in 82 T20 matches at a strike rate of 169, including two centuries and 16 half-centuries.
Other Team Changes
“Other teams have also made personnel changes ahead of the upcoming CPL season.”
- The Trinbago Knight Riders have roped in USA’s Andries Gous as a temporary replacement for Australia’s Tim David, who is expected to join the team only after their first four matches.
- The Barbados Royals have brought in Sri Lankan all-rounder Dunith Wellalage and Shamarh Brooks to cover for the absence of David Miller and Keshav Maharaj, who will be attending the Cricket South Africa awards function on September 5.
- Additionally, Zimbabwe all-rounder Sikandar Raza has withdrawn from the CPL due to an injury and will miss the entire tournament. The St Kitts and Nevis Patriots are yet to announce a replacement for Raza.
