Scrivens’ Half-Century Powers Sunrisers to Thrilling Win, Boosting Title Hopes
Sunrisers 189 for 7 (Scrivens 56) beat Northern Diamonds 188 for 9 (Villiers 4-36, Munro 3-25) by three wickets
Chelmsford witnessed a gripping contest as Sunrisers edged past high-flying Northern Diamonds by three wickets to move into third place in the standings. Birthday girl Mady Villiers was the star of the show, equalling her career-best figures of 4 for 36, while Sophie Munro’s 3 for 25 also played a crucial role in restricting Diamonds to 188 for 9.
“Sterre Kalis (36) and Katherine Fraser (34) were the main scorers for the visitors, but they were left to rue a few dropped catches in the field.”
Grace Scrivens led the run-chase with a well-crafted 56, sharing crucial half-century stands with Cordelia Griffith and Jody Grewcock (40). Despite a late wobble, Sunrisers overcame the challenge to chase down the target with 12 overs to spare, thanks to a composed unbeaten 23 from Lissy Macleod.
Diamonds remain second in the table and firmly in the mix for the semi-finals.
