Ingram, Carlson Score Half-Centuries but Glamorgan Heading for Defeat
Chester le Street, June 28th, 2023 – In a thrilling County Championship match at the Chester le Street Cricket Ground, Derbyshire have positioned themselves on the verge of a long-awaited home victory, despite valiant efforts from Glamorgan’s Colin Ingram and Kiran Carlson.
After rain washed out the morning session, Derbyshire’s Jack Morley and Pat Brown sparked Glamorgan’s decline, taking three quick wickets. However, Ingram and Carlson staged a fightback, both scoring half-centuries to keep Glamorgan in the hunt.
Ingram’s 53-run knock off 93 deliveries and Carlson’s resilient 56 off 125 balls helped Glamorgan recover to 226 for 4, but the team lost three wickets in quick succession, leaving them still trailing by 25 runs with three wickets in hand.
Morley, the on-loan left-arm spinner from Lancashire, was the pick of the Derbyshire bowlers, claiming 3 for 35 from his 20 overs. Brown also contributed with 2 for 50, putting Derbyshire on the cusp of their first Championship win at the County Ground since August 2019.
The 100-ball cricket live action at the Chester le Street Cricket Club promises an exciting finale, as Glamorgan fight to avoid a defeat and Derbyshire seek to end their five-year red-ball drought.
