In front of a packed house of 14,721 fans, Invincibles captain Lauren Winfield-Hill starred with a vital half-century, guiding her side to a comfortable chase of 120. Winfield-Hill’s 61 off just 40 balls, combined with a crucial unbeaten 30 from Marizanne Kapp, proved too much for the visitors.
Sharma’s Heroics in Vain
Earlier, it was Deepti Sharma’s heroic 46* that helped London Spirit post a respectable total of 120/8, after Invincibles had reduced them to a precarious 47/7. Sharma’s record eighth-wicket partnership with Eva Gray gave the Spirit a glimmer of hope, but Winfield-Hill and Kapp ensured the hosts cantered to victory with nine balls to spare.
