Trent Rockets Continue Impressive Run, Defeat Southern Brave in Hundred Clash
Trent Rockets 155/7 (Sciver-Brunt 60*, Bell 3-36) defeated Southern Brave 131/6 (Tryon 47*, Stonehouse 2-10) by 24 runs.
In a crucial Hundred match, Trent Rockets showcased their resilience and batting prowess to overcome defending champions Southern Brave. The victory keeps Rockets’ hopes alive as they look to secure a spot in the latter stages of the tournament.
Sciver-Brunt Leads the Way
Skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt led from the front with a masterful unbeaten 60 off 37 balls, cementing her status as the Hundred’s all-time leading female run-scorer with 933 runs. Her knock, combined with valuable contributions from Grace Scrivens (36 off 24), Ash Gardner, and Heather Graham, propelled Rockets to a formidable 155/7.
Stonehouse Shines with the Ball
Left-arm seamer Alexa Stonehouse also starred with the ball, delivering a brilliant opening spell to remove both Danni Wyatt and Maia Bouchier early on. Despite a composed innings from Smriti Mandhana (42 off 27) and a late flourish from Chloe Tryon (47*), the Brave struggled to keep pace with the required run rate and ultimately fell short by 24 runs.
“After the first four games, we felt pretty down, but we’ve come back really strongly, and with two games to go, who knows what can happen,” said Sciver-Brunt.
The result leaves the defending champions Southern Brave with just a solitary victory in the tournament, while Trent Rockets remain in the hunt for a playoff berth with two crucial matches remaining.
