Gloucestershire Defend 251 Against Yorkshire Despite Captain’s Unbeaten 76

Gloucestershire successfully defended a 252-run target to defeat Yorkshire by 36 runs in an enthralling County Championship clash at York. Opener Ollie Price’s patient 98-run knock and a spirited bowling display led by three-wicket hero Matt Taylor were the key factors behind Gloucestershire’s victory.

Electing to bat first, Gloucestershire posted 251 for 9, with Price and Miles Hammond (54) building an 88-run partnership. However, the visitors struggled to accelerate in the final overs, losing seven wickets for just 85 runs. Yorkshire’s new-ball seamer Ben Coad impressed with figures of 2 for 27.

In response, Yorkshire got off to a shaky start as Fin Bean and Will Luxton fell early. But Shan Masood (76) and James Wharton (56) steadied the innings, taking the score to a promising 137 for 2. However, a sudden collapse saw the Vikings slump from 137 for 2 to 215 all out, with left-arm pacer Taylor claiming 3 for 35.

“The result means both counties have now won two and lost two matches in Group B of the County Championship. Cricket enthusiasts can look forward to more backyard cricket, club cricket, and fantasy club cricket action as the tournament progresses.”
