Veteran Seamer Rogers Bolsters Kent’s T20 Squad Ahead of Vital Blast Stretch

In a bid to fortify their bowling attack for the crucial stage of the Vitality T20 Blast, Kent have secured the services of experienced Melbourne Renegades seamer Tom Rogers.

The 30-year-old Rogers, who has plied his trade in the Big Bash League with both the Renegades and Hobart Hurricanes over the past few seasons, will be making his maiden foray into county cricket as he joins the Spitfires lineup.

With the departures of Xavier Bartlett, who was only available for the initial eight group games, and Wes Agar, who is returning to Australia due to a shoulder injury, Kent’s director of cricket, Simon Cook, believes Rogers’ addition will provide the much-needed depth and experience to their bowling resources.

“We’re pleased to have got Tom on board to sure-up our bowling options going into the ‘business end’ of this South Group stage,” Cook said. “He has a lot of experience and has skills that will be useful to us with both the ball and the bat, too.”

In his T20 career thus far, Rogers has claimed 60 wickets at an impressive average of 24.78 and an economy rate of 8.38, underlining his ability to contribute across formats.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to play in the Vitality Blast and I’m excited to be joining Kent,” Rogers said. “We know that every game is vital for us now, and I want to do my part in getting results as a Spitfire in the near future.”

With Kent currently placed second from the bottom in the South Group, having won two matches, the arrival of the seasoned Rogers could provide a timely boost as they aim to fight their way into contention for a top-four finish in the competition.
